HARRY P. MEYERS, DDS, FICD—FOUNDER
Dr. Harry P. Meyers has been in the practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery since 1978. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and New York University College of Dentistry. He served his Oral Surgery Residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey. He participated in cancer research, and is the co-author of several papers on oral cancer diagnosis.
Dr. Meyers holds Board Certification in three areas:
- Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery,
- Dental Anesthesiology from the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and
- Pain Management from the American Academy of Pain Management
For nearly two decades, he has served as Chief of the Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry for the Pinnacle Health System and as adjunct faculty in the Dental Hygiene program at Harrisburg Area Community College, where he teaches Oral Pathology & Pharmacology.
Dr. Meyers has received many honors. As a dental student he was elected to membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honorary Society, by the NYU faculty. In 1998 for his “conspicuous and distinctive contribution to both dentistry and humanity,” he was elected as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. In 2012, the Pennsylvania Dental Association presented its Public Service Award to him “for his unwavering commitment to the profession and his dedication to improving access to oral health care for citizens across the Commonwealth.” Also in 2012 the Harrisburg Area Dental Society presented the Dr. A.S. Koser Award to Dr. Meyers for “Outstanding Dental Citizenship” recognizing his work to establish Harrisburg SMILES, a program providing access to care for the indigent.
Dr. Meyers is a member of numerous professional organizations including the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Middle Atlantic Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, Pennsylvania Dental Society of Anesthesiology, American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, and the Society of Diplomates of Harrisburg.
Dr. Meyers and his wife, Darlene, have three children (Jonathan, Andrew & Shani) and four grandchildren (Adelaide, Elliot, Gretchen & Levi).
